A Healthy Sex Life Means a Healthier You

We all know how enjoyable sex can be, but what some of us don’t know is that it’s actually good for our health in a number of ways. So if you’re feeling a little rusty and have been listing a number of excuses not to have sex, we’re about to give you a list of reasons to get out that box of sex toys and give your partner a welcome surprise:

Prevent osteoporosis- people who have sex more frequently have higher levels of testosterone which is actually linked to having a lower risk of developing osteoporosis and other bone problems.

Boosts your immune system- a study has shown that people who have sex several times a week have higher levels of immunoglobulin, an immune-boosting antibody which helps fight against cold and flu.

Having a headache is no longer an excuse- Having sex releases the endorphins and corticosteroids which have an analgaesic effect on the body, relieving aches, pains and headaches.

Reduces depression- Sex releases dehydroepiandrosterone and oxytocin, the feel good hormones helping to ward off depression.

Sleep better- Rather than visiting the doctor for a prescription of sleeping tablets, why not simply increase the amount of sex you have? The more sex you have, the better you’ll sleep and the more restful you sleep, the less likely you will encounter depression or anxiety.

Touch helps relieve stress and lower blood pressure- Sex or the simple act of a hugging your partner can dramatically reduce their stress levels in any given situation. Simply touching one another releases oxytocin.

Connect with your partner- Having an intimate experience with your partner can help reignite the flame in your relationship.

A pleasurable workout- Sex is a great workout and can help tone your arms, buttocks and thighs. Added bonus too is that it’s much more enjoyable than sweating it out at the gym!

Look younger- Some researchers believe that regular sex can actually make you look younger.

Prevent incontinence encountered later in life- Having regular sex gives the muscles that control the flow of urine a real work out. During an organism the entire pelvic floor contracts which is great for keeping these muscles in good working order.

Masturbation is also healthy- Masturbating has a number of positive effects for both men and women. Vibrators and dildos can help women explore their bodies and how they like to be touched. Men can actually treat erectile disfunction with regular masturbation.

As you can see, the list is extensive. There are so many health benefits you can experience by having regular sex with your partner. Not only is it healthy for you, it’s healthy for them and your relationship. I hope our list has given you some long over due inspiration to light some candles and dim the lights when your partner comes home from work tonight.
